  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

First off, I admit I fall victim to attractive cigars at times. This was one of those that fit that category. I am fairly certain they are rolled by Oliva for SC so I didn't feel all that apprehensive about dropping some money on them.

The construction is alright. The maduro stripe that twists around the cigar is nothing more than a strip of cut leave that is glued to the outside of the Habano wrapper. The first third or so the maduro did not burn with the cigar. It simply came unglued as it burned shown in the picture of burn. Eventually the glue held and the stripe burned along with the rest of the stick. Not that it matters because it is purely for aesthetics since it's such a small amount of wrapper it didn't contribute to flavor. The draw was very acceptable not to loose and not too tight. It wasn't as good as I get with most Camachos but it was good none the less. The ash was strong and it held for half the cigar till it dropped off. Only ashed twice through the length of the whole thing. As you can see, however, it was on the flaky side.

When I first lit the cigar it had a very peppery flavor (probably due to the maduro tip) with cocoa flavor. The pepper was a overpowering at first and gave me the tingle in the back of my throat.

The first third of the cigar the burn was for the most part even. It would only have an uneven spot occasionally on a point where the two wrappers weren't as tight as it should have been. The flavor was like I said peppery with strong hints of cocoa.

The second third the pepper greatly calmed down and I was picking up cedar and the cocoa still. Nothing too special to write home about to mom.

The final third the pepper picked up a little again and it showed that it was a kind of a full-medium-full body cigar. The strength was easily changed I think because of the size of this cigar. I put it down and was done right at my final picture because it started to get hot.

Overall it was a good cigar and I'm glad I bought them. I think with more aging it will definitely improve. I plan to let these sit for about a year before I smoke another one. I look forward to it. Burn time was just about 2h and 15m. Made for a relaxing afternoon as I let my laundry sit in the dryer.
