  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I think there's just 3 episodes left and I am very unimpressed with this season so far. Come to think of it, I was very unimpressed with last season also, but I digress. I may be in the minority here, but I just think the series is going out with a wimper. I's not that I need a Scarface type ending, but a little quicker development and more action in these story lines is much needed IMO. How many times do I have to sit and watch episodes of gay (no I'm not homophobic) gangsters and/or AJ crying his eyes out to a therapist? I'm sorry, I just don't see with only three episodes to go, how they will tie this up and it be nothing more than a fizzle. It really sucks because IMHO this show (early episodes) was a classic, and thus deserved a classic finish. Curious to know others thoughts on this as well.

I agree that the past two years have been a letdown ... but I still watch the damn show everytime it's on. Last week picked up the tempo and I still have hope that the final three episodes will at least partially save this final season.

Yea, I hope they have something planned that will really wrap it up in a way that it should be.

Me too Tom. I've been waiting it seems like forever for this thing between Tony and Phil to blow up. Also, you know the ending will have to involve law inforcement in some capacity. I just don't see how in 3 shows they can do what I was expecting out of these last 10 episodes. I will surely be watching though, like the loyal Sopranos junkie I've always been. :hanghead:

Guys, didn't last Sunday night's episode spark anything in you? A couple of very important things happened, I believe leading up to the finale'.

I've been a fan of the last season (both the beginning of six and the current part two of six). It's tieing up a lot of story arcs, and really beginning to dig into how corrupted and evil Tony is. There was an article a while back that described how the two families (Tony's immediate family and his mob family) are breaking down and it will be interesting to see how they end up, if they still exist.

It's also interesting to see how much Tony is becoming his mother, Livia, as much as he hates her.

David Chase has always said he doesn't want a stereotypical ending. If for some reason it does blow up into a NY/NJ war, I could see the Vito issue (how Phil whacked him without consulting with Tony) playing a role. As much as I didn't like that storyline, I see how it may affect the series as a whole.

AJ's issues just reaffirm Tony's failure as a father. He was disappointed in his father (fat bitch Janice got more attention) and always wanted to treat his son better, but of the many chances, he has not. Chris's death could also symbolize Tony's failure as a "fatherly" figure in the mob family, as he always treated him like a son. There were quite a few times that Chris screwed up, and would have been killed if he weren't family.

I just hope Chase doesn't go for the crazy out and have Tony wake up from his coma, for real this time.

To those who aren't enjoying it, what are your favorite episodes from previous seasons and why?

Well I have to say that this show petered out in the season ender just like it has in recent seasons. The only thing that would have made this thing even tolerable is if AJ had sat there peeing on himself and whimpering da da as one of those goons in the resturant shot Tony. Obviously that's a joke, but this was a terrible way to end this series IMO. What were they thinking?:shame:

I thought the episode was funny. I was lmao at Paulie with the cat and AJ with the SUV burning up. I think the ending was a suggestion that you just never know when it's going to happen, whether it's getting whacked or getting pinched by the feds. Kinda weird.

David Chase has the right to do whatever he wants, this is America....BUT....to me, the entire Sopranos series was like a romance /marriage gone bad, and that's my choice. It's like dating and romancing a person who is everything you've been looking for and then you decide to commit to the relationship by marrying this person. Only to find out that as the years go on, this person is nothing like they pretended to be in the beginning of the relationship. Finally, you get divorced. Well I have divorced myself from any series that has the name David Chase associated with this. After the first two riveting seasons, each year was a bigger let down than the previous one and I'm done with watching another Chase program. I committed to it after the first two seasons and have lost all of the time I invested in watching this damn show! I wish that Carnivale was not canceled and the Sopranos was.

The blackout ending was a bit of a letdown ... especially since the previous few minutes were so full of tension as Tony and his family sat in this greasy spoon of a restaurant (why didn't they go to Artie's?). It was rather funny watching Meadow, in typical woman fashion, having such trouble parallel parking.

I was thinking she was going to walk in late and see everyone in the place had been wacked. But this ending was sort of expected too. Life pretty much goes on for the Sopranos as before ... and a big screen movie might be in the works.

It was sweet to see Phil get taken down though.

I thought it was a great ending to a great show!

Most people that were disappointed, wanted a complete bloodbath. Last weeks episode had everyone on the edge of their seat, it was violent, it was intense, and it left a lot of people thinking this week would be even worse.

Truth be told, everything that should have happened, did happen. Phil got his, and Tony is back on top of the world. It was great seeing AJ get back to reality, and as I see it, in the family business. Meadow put Tony in his place and probably put an end to the discussion of her being a lawyer versus a doctor when she told him she was going to law school because of her dad and how he has been treated by the law in the past (ironic huh?).

The ending is really up to you. For those who wanted to see Tony dead...he's dead! If you wanted to see him live on with his family, that's what he's doing. At this point, it's up to your imagination to decide how you really want to view those final black seconds.

I was thinking about that. Even though they are loaded, their roots are from blue collar families that were middle class at best. So it makes sense that at times they would go to some dive. I also think Chase had this in mind as a kind of return to their beginnings for the closing of the episode.

Aww, I didn't know this! I agree totally! Carnivale was a great show IMO, but HBO has a knack for creating great shows that seem to fizzle when they go on too long. The thing I never got about the Sopranos was this- If you have the enormous, gigantic, rediculous amount of time btween seasons with which to come up with new material, it should damn well be excellent. The thing I just couldn't get over with this season is why the hell they made AJ a little cry baby bitch. Then they made Tony have a semi-gambling problem which never materialized and he just kinda solved. There were a few times this season when I thought it was about to go balls to the wall, but never did. I may be in the minority, but I would have liked to see a Tony/Phil face to face before Phil went down. Oh well, one last thought-The 6th was so bad, I will not go see a movie if they happen to make one. Dammit! :hammersma
