  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I keep a can of "compressed air" handy....after I bleed, and re-fuel I blow out the element area just in case ashes or a piece of tobacco get in there.

With it being a "Dupont" lighter I'm sure if it ever needs serving it will have to be through an "authorized dealer/repair service."

Three years and a LOT of usage I have done no maintenance to mine. I do keep it stored in a pleather pouch which is stored in an old cell phone pouch so I do keep good care of it. Buy the best butane you can like the quintuple refined stuff.

Make sure to use the DuPont butane. Only problems I have had is the one time I didn't. It has a a special sized nozzle that fits like a glove and the others don't. It's a little bit more expensive but worth it. Nice pick up! I love mine.

I truly believe you just bought the best torch lighter on the planet.

Wow...pretty high praise, there!

I've looking into these as well, and they seem awesome but the one thing I'm worried about is whether these are safe to keep in your pocket--what if the side button get's pressed accidentally? Most other lighters have the "safety" of needing to open the top first, etc.

Any thoughts?

it takes pretty good pressure to make it light. plus it fits flush so it takes pretty specific pressure. great lighter.
and if its upside down, it can't be lit due to a safety in the trigger

Thanks guys! Yea, sounds like an awesome lighter. I've been looking into getting a nice one, and this one tops my list now.

I'm using one single flame and one trip, both were freebies. The single flame is pretty nice, but the trip lights cigars really fast, but uses so much fuel it's just ridiculous. The problem is that both of these are becoming a bit unreliable. I haven't tried the compressed-air trick, I'll do that next.
