  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I usually leave my Stinky ashtray in the garage over night, but last night left it out and we had a good thunderstorm. It was under the overhang of the house so no direct rain. So this is what it looks like this morning. It is less than a year old and had no rust before last night. Had anyone else had this issue and if so how to fix it? I'm really disappointed. Btw, it's the hammered copper one.

Hammered copper I would think it will start to get a green patina to it. I have the regular ones and I leave one out, been outside for probably over a year now with no signs of rust whatsoever, possibly try some jewelry cleaner. Actually looking at the picture looks like a bad weld. They don't have copper stirrups?

I honestly don't think it's real copper, just a coating if some sort. I'll try the jewelry cleaner in the rust. Thanks!

Spray a little WD40 on a cloth or paper towel and wipe it down. The rust will come right off.

Don't do this if you plan on painting it though since it will also keep the paint from adhering.
