  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Stock market taking a beating lately

Last Thursday the Dow was over 11600 and Nasdaq was over 2320.

Tonight it's looking like the Dow will close under 11200 and the Nasdaq under 2200.

OUCH!

Have not invested much recently. In December 2005 sold all my Latin American fund that I held since 1996. 2004 and 2005 was either #1 or #2 sector funds of them all after years of large up and down swings. As of last week was up over 30% for the year, DOH.

Trying to pay down my CC bills for all the cigar and accessory purchases. As such not sent any money for the last two months. Buy low, sell high.

Whats more frightening is that our dollar is loozing value!!!!!!!

The foreigners that are working in this country take their paycheck and ship it back to their homeland where they invest it in their own land and become rich while they put no money back into our system....

And did you realize that all these immigrants that ship their paycheck out of this country dont pay any taxes on it.....

WE ARE REALLY SCREWED.......

Actually this is only true if they get cash under the table. If they are receiving an actual paycheck, then in many cases taxes are being taken out.

In fact, I heard a news report last month that stated the Social Security system collects almost $20 billlion annually in excess taxes from workers who use bogus numbers. I'm sure the majority of these cases are illegal immigrants.

I do agree though that much more than that is flowing out of the US ... including billions that the US govt just gives away so that other countries will be our "friends".

Not the issue driving the market.
And arguably not the worst economic situation.
Focus on the yuan, not the dollar.

The market dive is based on worries of inflation and consequently the Feds bumping up rate again.

Oil prices have casued a rise in costs of other goods.

Much like the Feds, I fear inflation more than anything... except running backwards naked into a cold doorknob.
