So as many of you know, I spend a lot of time at Famous Smoke as it is about a block away from my house. One of the perks is that from time to time I get to try a sample blend they are working on. Well one of those blends is coming a reality (available later this month), and my friends at Famous gave me the opportunity to leak the pictures of the finished product to BOTL.
Sucker Punch, made by General Cigar Company exclusively for Famous Smoke Shop
Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut
Binder: Cameroon
Filler: Nicaraguan Ligero
Size: 5x50 reviewed,available in 4 sizes Critical Condition 7 x 52, King Hit 6 x 54, Lights Out 5 x 52, and Smash Face 6 1/8 x 60
Wrapped in a beautiful Connecticut wrapper and accented nicely by a killer band, you expect the usual mild monochromatic flavor profile of a Connecticut wrapper cigar. At least that is what I was expecting when I put a torch to this stick. I was wrong.
The cigar starts off mild and with the smooth flavor you would expect, but that is where the traditional Connecticut cigar experience ends. About 1/2 an inch into the cigar you start to feel the strength of the cigar build along with a flavor that is both sweet and tangy at the same time. No doubt a result of the Cameroon binder and ligero filler. By the end of the smoke, I was shocked at how much I was feeling the vitamin N and strength of this cigar; so much so that my tongue was actually tingling.
One of the few Connecticut wrapper cigars I have had that I actually enjoyed the entire time I was smoking it. The flavor and strength evolved through the entire experience. A cigar that would definitely wake me up for a 7:30am tee time when Mike, Tim, Ant and I next get together.
This cigar definitely lived up to its name, I was sucker punched by the flavor and strength.
