  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Before I get started I want to thank Ron(Shuckins) for sending me some of these to try out. This will be my fourth Sultan so I feel Im up for giving it a solid review now. So here we go.

Prelight:
My only real complaint here is the veins, but just as I used to tell myself when I was younger and getting shot down by the ladies "Its whats on the inside that counts"

Otherwise the cigar feels well packed and rolled nicely, no seams or blemishes to speak of. Prelight aroma is barnyard all the way. The cap clips easily and the prelight draw gave off a sweet tobacco flavor.

Flavors:
Just as the prelight draw foreshadowed I picked up a lot of sweet tobacco while smoking. It was complimented nicely by a light cocoa/coffee flavor. I also picked up some hints of pepper along the way. On the retrohale the smoke seemed very creamy in texture and I was able to also pick up on some cedar through the sinuses. The flavor definetly lingered for a good amount of time after exhaling. Id say its mild in body but more medium flavored. Perfect for the first smoke of the day, its easy on the palette and just as easy to enjoy. Its not an overly complex cigar but there are enough layers of flavor to keep my attention throughout the entire 7"x50 cigar.

Burn/Draw:
The draw on this Churchill was slightly tight but not nearly tight enough to be something to take points off for. The others I smoked all had a perfect draw and this one was just a bit tighter than those ones. Again nothing to complain about just worth noting. Burn is perfect on this churchill just as it was on the other 3 Sultans Ive smoked. Points should definetly be given for construction and quality control, the torcedors behind Sultan know what they are doing. Ash held on for an inch-inch and a half at a time and the Sultan exuded clouds of a light grey smoke.

Overall:
For someone that usually doesnt enjoy very many mild cigars I was impressed by the Sultan. It had enough flavor to keep me happy and thats a lot more than I can say for most mild offerings from other companies. I would definetly recommend any smoker to try Sultan Cigars and I'd highly recommend Mild body smokes to pick up some Sultans.
