Last night, I received my end from a group buy of cigars from Tambolaka Tobacco. This Indonesian cigar company created village made cigars using vintage tobaccos. Below is a little information the company details about itself.
Tambo Cigars are the brand new ultra premium cigar from Indonesia and the first and only Indonesian cigars made utilizing all of the following:
1. 100% Indonesian grown and processed tobaccos
2. Fully hand made construction
3. Long Leaf fillers
4. Up to 5 year old vintage tobaccos
5. Vintage tobaccos grown and aged using 100% organic methods
The end result is a cigar of richness and exotic flavors that compares favorably with any ultra premium cigar in the world. To learn more and to find the Tambo that is right for you just go to the tambo cigars link on your left.
We at Tambolaka Natural Tobaccos offer more than just one great cigar. We are also proud to present the new Java Country cigar line. The Java Country is a bit more relaxed and a bit more affordable than our premium Tambo line. They come with no fancy boxes and boast a more rugged country finish that is very manly. We made Java Country to bring back the look and feel of country cigars, hand rolled on the farms, where the best leaves and smoothest smokes were enjoyed by the tobacco farmers themselves. Dont be fooled however, Java Country are no light weight cigars. Each is filled with the finest Javanese long leaf fillers and handrolled in an attractive Javanese wrapper to present a cigar of distinction at a remarkably low price. Finally we offer a fine selection of accessories, pipes and pipe tobaccos to enhance your smoking pleasure. We hope you will enjoy our online offerings and contact us for pricing and shipping options, and will also come to visit us in Kuta, Bali, Indonesia next time you visit paradise.
As for the cigars themselves, I obtained the Short Coronas, 4 3/4 " x 42. These cigars had a nice oily wrapper, well rolled with no construction issues. Prelight hints of leather, citrus and an "english spice" were present. This scent was a cross between Perique and Latakia. So far so good. I used my Palio cutter to cut the cap. Pre-light tastes of Cinnamon, that spiciness and leather were there. I enjoyed that spice taste. The aroma before the cigar was lit was wonderful.
I toasted this cigar with my Dupont Xtend and this cigar took off. Huge plumes of smoke emitted from this cigar, a nice medium grey with lot's of that "English Spice." This was definitely not pipe tobacco, but this spiciness was very pleasant. The flavors of the citrus, leather, nuttiness were there.
The second third continued with the same flavors. I continued to enjoy the spiciness and the burn was excellent. I had to re-light it once, but that was because I was talking on the phone to an old boss.
The final third continued to have the spice flavor, it remained with a tinkling feeling to the tongue. Not of nicotine, but of that "English" taste. A slight hint of zinc and metallic flavor appeared at the end, letting me know the cigar was done. I got down to about 1" before this one was done. From the start to finish, this cigar kept that spiciness, lot's of smoke and no burn or draw issues.
Overall, this cigar was good. It is not something that I would go out and smoke everyday, but it is a nice change up. It had a medium to full flavor profile, with just a hint of nicotine. THe spiciness was not overpowering, but kept you enjoying it. On a scale of one to ten, I would give this one an 8.5.
With 5 vitollas in the line, as well as pipe tobacco, this is a nice treat. This particular cigar retails for $131 for a box of 25 cigars, about $5.25 a stick. Personally, I think the cigar is worth the investment.
Hope the review helps. Remember, be safe, watch your six, smoke something great and create a memory with a friend!
