Tatuaje The Drac Review
Vitola : Torpedo
Size : 6 3/4 x 52
Wrapper : Maduro
Filler : Nicaragua
Binder : Nicaragua
Price : $13 each at release in 2009
Appearance and Construction A very nicely constructed cigar, with some noticeable veins and a maduro wrapper. This was a fairly hefty cigar with no soft spots and it rebounded nicely when pinched.
Pre-light The wrapper had a sweet smell to it, draw was perfect, and the pre-light draw gave me a bit of spice on the lips with flavors of mint and cedar.
1/3 Upon lighting I was immediately punched in the mouth with a blast of white pepper and quite a bit of smoke. After about a half inch the spice faded more to the background and gave way to a minty taste with an espresso finish. The draw was perfect and the burn was solid.
2/3 The espresso flavors revved up here with some hints of cedar popping in and out. Toward the middle of the cigar the white pepper came back for a few minutes and then disappeared.
3/3 The cedar and white pepper became the dominant flavors in the final third with a little bit of mint in the finish. Burn got a little crazy here but didn't effect the experience.
Final thoughts Wow! This cigar just keeps getting better. I think I am in the minority because I liked this cigar from the beginning (5-6 months after release when I got my first) and many Tat lovers still are not fans of these. I have smoked one about every 3-5 months since then. Now, I just need to find some more!
I would rate this at 92 and cant wait to smoke another.
