  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I swear it's the Black labels big brother. Tons of similarity between the two. I really couldn't be happier with this cigar! I'd like to hear what people tink of this opinion, please post away whether you agree or not. Can't wait to smoke a Boris now!

I did not care for the Drac. On top of that, it smelled like lacquer. I tried to like it but it wasn't doing it for me. I would smoke EVERY other Tatuaje product before I smoked the Drac again.

With that said, I think the Black is MUCH better than the Drac.

What I do not like another person will love, and vice versa.

Patrick: I'll be sampling my first on Saturday during the trick-or-treating with the kids. Did the dry boxing help? I look forward the smoke and thanks for the review! Cheers!~

It still seemed a tad damp after a day and a half in there. It burned a little crooked and needed a few relights, but it surely didn't taste as if the flavor was impacted at all (don't know how it could have been any better!).

Smoke one in a month or two (stored out of the box). See if that changes anything. IF not, you've saved yourself a lot of money :)

Thanks for the suggestion njstone.

Aging will mellow any cigar, but aging will not do anything for my personal taste. IMO a good cigar should taste great right out of the box.

It's no biggy, I will just buy a few more Cojonu's.

The Black is my #1 NC hands down. I will definitely be doing a comparison tomorrow as I finish the cabinet.

Going to smoke one tonight before I jump into a larger purchase. I expect good things, keeping my fingers crossed.

Aging won't change YOUR taste, but I'm sure you've experienced when age changes the taste of a cigar. I've had cigars change drastically with just a month or two.

Many here will disagree with this I'm sure, but most Tats need additional aging, in my opinion. I think they are just shipped early. There are many that I flat out didn't like out of the box, like the El Triunfador, La Riqueza, and Noella. But now I love all of those sticks ... with additional age. There are a few other Tats that I haven't enjoyed much my first go-round, but plan to retry in a couple months (or given the season now, in the Spring). And at this point I just never smoke a Tat right away ... though I am thinking about making an exception for the Drac :)

The exception is the Havana VI line. I like the Victorias and Angeles OTT, though again, with a year of age both have become VERY different smokes (I'd personally put a 1-year-aged Victorias up there with pretty much any stick available).

At any rate, of course, if you don't like the Dracs don't smoke them, lol. Especially since it's such an expensive cigar, no big loss not to be in love with them, right?

I agree with you for the most part, but there are exceptions...the Frank for example, I think is a VERY different smoke with a year on it, and I don't think it is better then when it was first released...

That's interesting. I've heard other people say the same, and apparently Pete told someone that they may be going through a 2nd sick period ... which I've never heard of before. I've never smoked a Frank, only have one and I figure I'll hold onto it.

I know that people who love the super spiciness of fresh ligero cigars tend to be disappointed when those sticks age and the "bite" mellows out, sticks like the VSG and I'd guess the Tat T110 and maybe others like the Man o War Ruination as well. I didn't have a T110 OTT, but I had one a few days ago and thought it was really great.

I really like the Drac and I can taste the blackish taste as Patrick pointed out...it was a little harsh I thought toward the end though...I am sure this will mellow. I am smoking a Boris now and it is fantastic! I prefer these for smoking now. I bought a box of T110's when they hit and I thought they were far better out of the box fresh than they are now...I liked the ass kicking at the beginning...I think it is a far different smoke with age. I still love them though.

When I bought the Tat Blacks in a jar, I found them very unenjoyable until they had sat for six months - then they were wonderful...as it turns out I read somewhere that you were supposed to wait a minimum of six months since they came wet-packed in the foil wrapper. Stupid me.

I for one don't like older Tats (or any Pepin sticks). The spice and strength is why I buy them, so I don't want that to mellow out.
