Tatuaje Artista - Tatoo Artist, get it? Somewhat of a goofy name, in my opinion, but there's nothing goofy about this cigar!
I rceived this in a sampler pack from botl.org sponsor Famous Smoke Shop. Of the cigars included, this was the most impressive visually. It is an extremely well made torpedo, 6.125 x 52, with a lustrous brown wrapper and simple red band. It is fragrant - pungent and spicy.
It cut nicely, lighted nicely, and was filled with flavor right from the start. Though the flavor jumps out at you, there is nothing acrid or edgy. While full-bodied, it's a clean, crisp smoke. The first third burned slowly and evenly, and my initial impressions continued - plenty of body and flavor wiithout being overpowereing, and with the flavor becoming "muddy."
The second third burned evenly, though slightly faster, as you might expect. It was also flavorful, and there was just a hint of heat and a sliught metallic edge towards teh beginning of the final third of the cigar. Nothing too pronounced, but not as spectacular as the first third.
If there is any defect to this cigar, I would fault the final third of the cigar. The finish during this stage was noticably hotter and slightly acidic. This is by no means a fatal criticism. Indeed, as noted above, this cigar starts so well that it may doom its finish by comarison.
Numerical evaluation:
Appearance: 10/10
Construction: 10/10
Flavor: 17/20
Finish: 7/10
Smoking experience: 16/20
Aroma: 10/10
Overall impression: 19/20
Resultant Final Score: 89/100
This cigar, if you can find it, is very reasonably priced by comparison. If this adds anything to anyone's evaluation fo my review, I purchased a box as soon as I finished it!
