  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

tat J21
oct 13 box code
cut - straight with palio
lighter- Ronson single jet torch
drink - water
start time 5:40pm end 7:16
total smoke 1h 36m

appearance - looks like a disco ball. dark Ecuadorian Habano speckled with minerals shining like glitter

prelight - sweet (almost brown sugar), hay

draw - some resistance, not too tight

burn - razor sharp, a few corrections along the way but nice throughout

1st Third - This guy starts with butter (that’s new), brown sugar, slight black pepper. Then flavors combine into sweet baked goods with hay and pepper. The black pepper is very prominent on the retro. Some dried cherry or cranberry notes come in and out in the background. Hints of nutmeg and a slight cocoa. Toasted wood (oak) starts to show up towards the end.

2nd - Turns to notes of roasted coffee, pepper, and more toasted oak. The pepper and wood on the retro are becoming stronger. Some leather and dried citrus (cranberry and orange) creeps in and out. A sour note (not sure what) sneaks in and out. A cool crisp note (almost mint) comes into the the retro. The sweet backed goods returns at the end with a hint of something close to rosemary.

3rd - The crisp mint and toasted oak become the predominant flavors. Some leather and sour come in and out. A very woody retro now. Toasted walnuts and the wood changes to cedar toward the middle of this third. Some cocoa, light citrus, and milk chocolate near the end. The retro becomes very floral toward the nub.

Final Thoughts: This was a very complex cigar that had a great base flavor with some really interesting lighter note throughout. I really enjoyed it as this box seems to be aging nicely. Quite happy with the smoke!
