  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Review # 43
$9. - $12.
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo (Ligero)
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
7.0" x 47

Prelight: Sweet cedar, slightly floral

1st 1/3
Semi-sweet leather and tobacco, some hay notes and mild pepper and spice,
with dominant wood flavor coming out.

Draw slightly tight but tolerable, very slow burner, white ash with a straight burn and pleasant aroma off the foot.

2nd 1/3
Dry wood notes are still dominating with light black pepper, burn going slightly off angle, flavors not very impressive, being a rich maduro fan.

Not a big smoke maker here in the 2nd 1/3 and the draw is getting tighter, the Tatuaje Fausto has been my favorite of the company so far, followed by the Cojonu 2012 Sumatra.

Final 1/3
It now has smoothed out nicely with a creamy character and the wood has mellowed with more flavors, roasted cocoa, coffee, and leather notes with the slight pepper continuing.

Draw and burn line perfect now, self correcting, getting a slight buzz now and producing lots of smoke here in the last 1/3.

The last 1/3 has been the most enjoyable but at $9. - $12. a stick, not worth a revisit for me with it's muted flavors.
Smoke time 1hr 30 min
Score 7 out of 10

I don't think they were going for the "rich maduro" profile on this one, so I wouldnt expect a Fausto/Cojonu flavor profile. To me the SW is barely a medium body, complex and creamy. My favorite nc churchill.

Thanks for the review. Is this one a regular production? I remember the sw reserva with the broadleaf wrapper. A limited release for a store in Florida a few years ago. Probably my all-time tatuaje favorite. I may have one left....

How does this compare to the black label?
To the Tat Black Label? Not as much spice, a step down or two on the medium to full body scale, much more delicate wrapper, more milk chocolate notes for me. I like the tat black petite lancero as well as the CG...the reserva SW profiles more towards the pl, though they are pretty far apart. If I had to compare it to something it would probably be a cc...I know that gets thrown around a lot, but this is a creamy stick!
