  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This small cigar, which I guess is like a smallish corona, features a great
construction that is... ugly, but attractive. The pack is slightly lumpy, and
the wrapper is a little veiny. It has that great Cuban/Garcia triple cap, which
I am reluctant to even cut given the clear workmanship that is present. The wrapper
is a darker chocolate brown, very oily, with fairly tight seams. Again, lumpy,
suggesting obvious hand-made qualities. The band is a simple brown and white
strip, which I LOVE. I absolutely adore the simple habano bands that are brown
and white. Something classic about the look. There is one small hole in the wrapper,
but the binder appears sturdy and intact, so I don't see it being a problem.

The arome from the wrapper is almost non-existent, while the foot gives an extremely
rich musty tobacco smell. It smells like old leather, and spice. Very pleasant.

The prelight draw is very loose, and gives flavors of cedar and very rich, musty
aged tobacco, with a slight pepper.

Lit at 11:50pm

Right away the flavors are very deep, giving leather, cinnamon, musty tobacco, and
cedar. There is a muted pepper on the finish. The smoke production is impressive for
such a small cigar as well.

Through the first third the flavors are largely the same, with the pepper coming
up to the forefront a bit stronger through the finish, and the leather and musty
tobacco remaining the primary flavors I am getting on the draw. There is a slight
sweet flavor between the draw and the onset of the finish, but at the moment I
cannot identify it.

Around the halfway point, the burnline is absolutely flawless, razor sharp, and
thin. The ash hold on for about an inch at a time, and is an attractive white
and gray. The ambient smoke off the foot has a richness, very cedary. The
flavors have also become smoother, with a mellow cedar flavor accompanying
the dominant leather. The heat has come down, and the finish is slightly nutty.

The burn line needs a little correcting a little way past the last update. Just
a small touch up to even it up. The smoke really does coat the palette well on
this one. It also leaves an oily feel on the lips.

Getting into the final third there haven't really been any significant changes.
Pepper heat has come back heavily on the finish, and the leather and cedar continue
to dominate. Stuck a clip in it with an inch and a half left to smoke. Despite
not being overly complex, the flavors have proven to be very bold and dtrong.
Strength does not exceed medium at any point.

Ended at 1:15am, for a total smoke time of one hour 25 minutes. Overall, this
was not quite as complex as the last of these I smoked, but certainly has some fantastic
flavors present, and presented as such, very boldly.
