  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I agree this is a legendary stick. However this cigar was made in memory of a tatuaje rep that passed away and I'm pretty sure Pete has said the SW will never be made again.
Yes, but continuing to hope against hope especially after pete's comments to keep an eye out for his saints and sinners program in response to Brooks' post on the Noelia reserva OR. Perhaps if enough of us mention In this thread that the best way to honor Paul and to keep his memory alive is to keep this extraordinary blend, perhaps renamed after him and released annually as a special anniversary tribute. Just sayin' ... :innocent:

Good point. Nothing wrong with a yearly memorial cigar.

just smoked my first yesterday which I got from Brooks in a trade and I must echo the sentiment that these are awesome smokes. Definately in the top 10 of smokes I have ever had.

Finally got to smoke one of these legendary sticks and I've got to say I can definitely see why Brooks is such a great fan. Couldn't put it down and really enjoyed the aroma and flavors throughout. I think time has tamed the initial spice kick. Very smooth and nuanced in flavor but it definitely bites back towards the nub. That aroma of slightly burnt, spicy, sweet Spanish chocolate & espresso is totally captivating! Surprisingly less of a nicotine kick than I expected. Really hope that Pete brings this one back.
If this was your first, this statement doesn't make sense to me.

I hear ya, but since he mentioned Brooks' review, he's probably just going off of the review talking about the spice. I'm sure he just never got the spice kicks like Brooks said in his review and came to the conclusion that time mellowed it out. Makes sense to me, but I understand why you wouldn't think so.

Ah, that makes sense then. :)

I never really put too much into what other people post in reviews, as their definition of spice or pepper and the amount of it may be alot different than mine, etc.

I've also checked with a number of Tat and Pepin smokers who were selling various sticks with some age on them and asked how those sticks evolved over time. In some cases these good folk mentioned that some of the blends 'mellowed' with age, losing initial spice but gaining in complexity and smoothness, not unlike a fine wine with good tannins aging gracefully. One botl mentioned el centurion as a blend that aged nicely.
It is also worthy to note that some have posted here that certain blends reach their peak early and others even chuck some older blends that lost flavor over time. Again, not unlike some wines. Cheers!

having been fortunate enough to secure a box, I'm finally now digging into one... this really is a great cigar. the complexity requires some concentration... but about 1.5" to 2" in I'm getting definite notes of peanuts - the semi-sweetness (notable in peanut better) is coming through the "spice", which is heavier on cinnamon and lighter on pepper. Certainly one of my favorite Tats to-date.

good medium body. this box is definitely meant to be shared.
