Smell and dry draw are a nice, almost sweet hay. Not bitter or or dry. Maybe like alfalfa.
First third was delicious. Hay, cream, and some hints of cedar. No real spice to it as I had expected but that fine. Take long intervals between draws has kept this a tasty smoke.
Entering the second third I get a nice sweetness and cream and something that seems like barnyard and cedar to me. Not strong. Very subtle.
The sweetness kind of turns into a buttery taste as the pepper begins to come in. Only other Monsters I've smoked are the a few of the Pudgy ones. I got a Pudgy Monster Tiff at the Megaherf in Philly a couple months ago. When I smoked it, I remember enjoying it and thinking it was spicery than I expected. This Skinny version is even more to my liking. Like the the flavors blend even better in this vitola.
I'm trying to remember what else I've smoked with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper. Drawing a blank. I'm typical not a huge fan of the flavors from Connecticut wrappers but this one is nice. Pete uses solid tobacco so maybe nothing else would taste as good?
Final third...Spicy never really showed. Cream and sweetness has passed and a more cedar and herbal flavor is coming to the front. This is a great cigar! Honestly, I'm impressed with the flavors coming from this.
Conclusion
This would be an amazing smoke with a cup of coffee. I think that would line up nicely for my palate. I rarely smoke in the mornings, but this cigar could probably change that. Haha.
I am really digging this vitola and already am glad I bought a sample box. As I said earlier, only had some a few other Monsters, so I look forward to trying a few of the ones I really liked in other vitola (Jason, Drac, & Hyde) to see how they compare!
