I was gifted this stick from DRPMA a few weeks ago and I allowed it to rest in the humi for a bit and I decided today was the day.
I had a light breakfast and retired to the deck, Palio in hand along with my Xikar torch and this gem of a stick.
I sniffed the foot and this little voice in the back of my head said "C'mon buddy, you can do this." And after a precision snip I toasted the foot and it was off to the races.
The first puff took me back some 40+ years to the time I snuck one of my Grandfather's Pall Mall Reds. I mean the taste of jalapeno or serrano smacked the taste out of my mouth! My tounge and lips were tingling as if I took a straight shot of Buffalo Trace to the face.
I have to admit that the thought of saying 'Uncle' crossed my mind. But, there's no quit in me so I forged ahead.
After about a quarter inch, the stick mellowed and for the next 45 minutes I was in Tatuaje Heaven. Puff after glorious puff, this stick kept my rapt attention.
Until about the midway point I tasted what seemed like roasted game and herbs. The latter half smacked of woodiness and cream. I'll admit, I caught a nicotine buzz that lasted for about 30 minutes or so. Nevertheless, this was an awe inspiring stick.
Thanks Doc for sharing this with me. I remain forever in your debt. Good thing for me that I have one more that I am going to let age for another day or two.
I have a 5er on the way from Marvin's stash which I am going to age as I am certain that these will only get better over time.
