tell me a little more about a HERF

So I am really enjoying the whole cigar hobby and an curious about a HERF. I have never been to one but they do sound like it would be a good time. Can you guys tell me a little more about them and what to take if I ever go to one and what expect if I ever throw one... Is there a "HERF" rule book so to speak?

A herf can range from the most informal of get togethers between two friends to the super organized extravaganzas like Cigarfest. The only requirement is that cigars or pipes be involved.
