  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I will keep this review fairly simple. The Tesa 312 lancero is something I have been looking forward to for a long time. If anyone knows me they know I am a huge fan of Tesa Cigars and Chris Kelly as a blender. This is a cigar that should be releasing this year.

The cigar has a nice tight roll for a lancero with a nice dark chocolate wrapper and pig tail cap. The pre-light draw is a little tight but good and the smell is a nice sweet tobacco scent.

On light this cigar was a little tight in the beginning but loosened up with the first minute or so. I will be honest the 312 doesn't change up a lot for me and that is why I like them so much. They are straight forward espresso and sweet caramel flavors for me; this one is no different. The lancero is just a nice concentration of the regular blend and it is fantastic.

It burned good all the way through and required no touch ups. I got about an hour and 20 minutes out of this cigar in the end. I would definitely recommend you guys try at least the regular 312 line until these guys are released.

If you didn't know Chris Kelly is the blender at Tesa Cigars and runs it with Brian in the downtown Chicago area. He is one of the rare boutique brands that has their own factory in Nicaragua. If you get a chance check out the shop if your in the area. It is definitely a little different than most. I would say it is a blue collar shop for the working man with a nice laid back and relaxed atmosphere.

I've got some Reserva Real (a little of everything really) as well…

I wasn't a huge fan of the first (and only) Shaman I've smoked and have gifted five or so of them out to other people to hear their take on them.. I recall distinctly that I thought if the Shaman had a good amount of rest, they might fit my palate a bit better..?

The Shaman is a decent smoke but is probably one of my least favorite in their line. It is more of a budget smoke though and also has the least amount of age. Almost all of the smokes they have already have a very good amount of age.

If anyone is interested they have a great deal on a sampler through their site.

Great cigars, great customer service. In fact, I think the name of the thread I created to illustrate my experience was titled "great customer service" ( too lazy to look it up fad paste link.....sorry!)

These cigars are well made and have great flavors....Well worth looking into, and you can order directly online :)

That Shaman was a home run Joel I fell in love with it instantly. I ordered up some the next day I thought they were so good. I also tried a picadura king conn. which was also awesome. Huge Tesa fan now! Thanks for the Shaman! I wish I was more of a cigar reviewer to give you guys one but.... All I know is that smoke is in my top 10 and maybe top 5.

I like the sound of those flavors, how would you rate the body & strength of this stick and their line in general?

I would say this was a solid medium body but fill in flavor. Its hard to rate their line in general because the sticks they make vary so much. Some of the line have absolutely nothing in common with each other.
