  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Over the next week I will be reviewing the Tesa Cigars Tasting Sampler. If you don't know much about Tesa Cigars they are a boutique cigar company out of Chicago. They are very rare in the fact that they have thier own cigar factory in Esteli. This gives them absolute control over thier product.

The sampler has 10 Puritos and 6 cigars listed below.

Puritos:
Criollo 98: Jalapa - seco/viso/ligero
Criollo 98: Esteli - seco/viso/ligero
Nicaraguan binder - viso priming
Brazilian arapiraca
Connecticut shade
Ecuador Habano

Cigars:
Picaduro King Habano
Shaman
Cabinet 312
Picaduro King Connecticut
Gran Cru Box Press
Reserva No. 464

I will be doing reviews in the comment section below on different days of the week. A special thanks goes to KoreanCowboy for making this my Christmas present this year.

Criollo 98'

I know with smoking my first purito why they call them that. It is definitely pure flavor and richness. It wouldn't be ideal to make an entire cigar out of one leaf. That being said it is actually pretty good.

It has to me a nice rich bread sweetness with a nutty profile and just the tiniest bit of spice. This will definitely turn out to be a nice learning experience.

Criollo 98 Ligero

This one is so much different than the last one I smoked. I love the flavor on this; it is just straight up earth and pepper. Its the kind of pepper that starts on your lips and works it's way all the way down your throat. I think I am getting a pretty good nicotine kick off this bad boy as well. I am pretty sure I will hit my nicotine tolerance soon....

Criollo 98
Habano

This one was very tasty and I found it to be mild to medium. It had a nice spice to it. Its not like a pepper spice but more of a bakers spice. I definitely recognize some of this flavors in the cigars they have now.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts!

I have the Gran Cru sitting in the humidor that I keep drooling over.
So the Criollo 98 Ligero is part of the Gran Cru, which kicked my ass. I do know now why the Gran Cru is full body. Hahah!
So I should have one immediately after finishing th Asylum 13 7x70?

Hate to revive an old thread but oddly enough I got bombed two unbanded custom rolls from the Chicago Tesa's shop. I'll review them when I smoke them, but I have no knowledge of what they are. In truth I ended up talking to a hotel guest last night at the resturant I work at and he ended up tipping me with the cigars. His wife said, "please take them we have way to many at home!" Lol

In either case I'm looking forward to these sticks, I'll post pictures up here later to get some identification help if that's possible

They are excellent cigars. I may be able to identify them and if I can't I can just ask them. I have had quite a few of them and a majority of them are very well aged.

Thanks for reviving!
It reminds me, I still need to seek out a set or two. @Hoshneer, are they still available?

These are them spent their 24 hours in the "make sure they're safe box" and they are good to go. I have to say they smell great. My guess is they are Connecticut wrappers I think, never had a super great cigar with that wrapper....
