While this is not as comprehensive of a review as some here can give, I will throw my thoughts out to the masses. As my palate becomes more refined, I hope to provide more in depth descriptions in any future reviews.
Yesterday evening I decided to fire up this nice looking stick. I am a Monte fan and my local B&M recommended this to me the other weekend. Off the cello went. Even though the plastic was clear I didn’t think about the stickers until it was off.
Three different sticker/bands on this. The middle one looks to be the enforcer of the group. Large, imposing, and at the center of the action. I shall dub thee - The Enforcer Band.
The bands are very aesthetically pleasing, yet imposing. The Enforcer Band even has a bold signature on the front. I am reminded of John Hancock signing with a flourish to make sure King George saw his defiant name. Very fitting.
I began to think I may be in for a challenge. The Enforcer Band, even with having no eyes, was staring me down hoping to break my will. Do not underestimate your opponent. En garde, Espada!
Great. Perforations. Just what a cigar band needs. Like rhinestones on a velvet Elvis painting. The glue, I believe, was previously used by NASA to hold heat tiles to the shuttle. No budge at all. The band at the foot did come off without damaging the cigar but that small section that had glue was definitely the same strength as on The Enforcer Band. Oh, well. The stick was now naked enough to get a start.
Gave it smell. It had a pleasant scent that was not very strong. Made my cut. Cold draw was perfect. I knew I would have no issues getting a good puff from this stick. The taste was muted but I could pick out a bit of coffeeish flavor and something a little Earthy. Again, not heavy, but perhaps Earth Lite. FIRE!
The burn seemed to have a bit of a wave to it. Not very much so I figured I would leave it and see what happens. Must be the cigar but there were consistent but small wave like peaks and valleys. Give the small size of these fluctuations I still have no problem calling it an even burn. It’s just a bit of artistic flare with the burn wave. Pretty cool, actually.
Now the cherry is getting close to The Enforcer Band. Perhaps I'm missing a few screws but I yelled at the cigar "Now I’ve worn you down, scoundrel. There can be only one!"
I can hear my friend Abbott getting scared. Wait, I don’t have a friend named Abbott. Flash backs from Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy are going through my head now. Undaunted, I delicately proceeded to unwrap and eventually achieved victory. A hard fought battle indeed. The wrapper of the cigar stayed intact. Enforcer, you were a worthy advisory. I raise a toast to you.
From this point there was nothing left to do but enjoy. Mission accomplished. This was a wonderful cigar. Extremely smooth and a flavor that, not strong, made me want more. I think a trip to the store will be taking place soon to get another one of these. Maybe more. lol
