  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Since the beginning of December I have been on a real Beer kick, just looking to try new and interesting beer....

Roanoke Railhouse - Loose Caboose

Founders - Dirty Bastard, Backwoods Bastard and Breakfast Stout

Fort Collins Brewery - Double Chocolate Stout

Bell's - Expedition Stout

He'Brew - R.I.P.A. on Rye

Mother Earth - Silent Night Imperial Stout

New Holland Brewing - Dragon's Milk Imperial Stout

Schneider Weisse - Hopfen Weisse

Bavarian-Weissbier - Hefeweisse

BOSS Browar Witnica - Black Boss Porter

Triangle Brewing Company - Belgian Style White Ale

Left Hand Brewing Company - 400 lb Monkey

Braverei Schloss Eggenberg - Samichlaus Bier

Samuel Adams & Weihenstephan Brewery in Germany - Infinium

Damn if I didn't like all of them, my favorite though is the Founders Breakfast Stout. The one cigar shop I go to in Columbia, SC, The Tobacco Merchant, actually has it on tap!

Some nice brews there. I had some Rogue Chocolate Stout, Anchor Steam Seasonal, Sam Smith's Taddy Porter, Alaskan Smoked Porter, and Arrogant Bastard Ale earlier this month. Went on a beer run today and picked up Rogue Mocha Porter, Lion Stout, Sudwerk Doppel Bock, 2 others I can't remember atm, and to top it all off (3) Pliny the Elders. I got the rest of the Elders they had at Total Wine.

Had my first Rogue Chocolate Stout last night. Sounded like my kind of beer but I didn't like it at all. I could not get the chocolate aftertaste out of my mouth. The label says "natural chocolate flavoring" but it tasted very artificial to me.

Now Founder's Breakfast Stout- that's good stuff. And you could have it for breakfast. I can't think of a more filling 12 ounce bottle of beer.

My wife and I went out early on New Years Eve and enjoyed a few new beers to us.

I had some (512) Whiskey Barrel Aged Double Pecan Porter on Friday. It was GOOD! I found it at The Ginger Man in Plano. I've had the other (512) Pecan Porter before it was good too, but I think I prefer the WBA Double Pecan more. My wife liked it a lot too.

The Franconia Dunkel is also a good beer, I think it's my wife's new favorite. And we also had the Chimay Red, which was also good. But that was kinda lost after drinking the (512). The flavors weren't as bold.

Wish I could get Founders KBS out here. Did manage to get some phenomenal beers recently. Fifty Fifty Eclipse Black Wax (Aged in Even Williams barrels) and The Abyss by Deschutes, I love this beer! And of course my other favorite, St. Bernardus!
