BoM x 2, BoY 2011
i've burned a few of these after getting them from the burning leaf event, which sadly i was not able to attend. but then i heard the tv raffle was rigged anyway!!
the uzi's are all 6 x 60, cello'd in bunches of 10. the description of the ingredients have been posted before, so i won't go into that. my reviews are typically, i like them, or i don't like them. so, to take away any suspicion at the top, i like them! a lot has been said about the size. they are the size they are, so move along. personally, they don't seem to be that large to me, but then i am partial to the t 52 dc so enough said. they will be coming out in 5 x 60 and 7 x 60 later, i believe.
i always have to temper my thoughts about any new de product because i hold the dirty rat, t 52 dc and lp 9 toro up as my benchmarks. many of the new prereleases i have tried of other lp sticks have been good, but dont' hit my benchmarks. i realize that is not always the purpose of the manufacturers. they aren't trying to reinvent these sticks, they're making new ones. so with that in mind, i tried to go into the uzi with a fresh mind.
it's hard not to be drawn to the stick if you are a liga fan. dark, oily and minimally rough wrapper surrounds the uzi. the aroma is deep dark tobacco. the prelight draw was the same flavor as the aroma. it takes a little flame to get it going, but once lit, it burned in typical lp fashion ( i realize this is not truly an lp stick, but close enough, so back off perfectionists!) this thing held an ash for well over 2 inches and probably could have gone farther.
the flavors are not terribly complex, but i have no problem with that. it's an uzi for cripes sake. the flavors that do intermingle are more along the ripe fruit range to me. not sweet, but dark cherry, raisin and some cocoa seem to predominate. these became more pronounced entering the middle of the smoke, so don't mu it, er, stop smoking it too soon!
for such a large cigar, it is not something that is going to knock you on your ass power wise. it is more of a medium/full, leaning more to the medium for me. it makes it easier to smoke more than one if you want to.
the most interesting thing about this cigar to me, is what is it exactly? it's not exactly like a liga, it's not like a jdn. but it does definitely have the lp heritage. i will assume that anyone who is a fan of the lp line will enjoy this cigar. while it will not replace my top 3, it isn't supposed to. it's the stick i'll grab when one of the others might be a little more than i want at that time. and total smoking time was relatively quick for it's size. i smoke relatively quickly, and it lasted a tick over an hour. for a stick that size, that's fairly fast, but it never got hot or bitter.
are they for everybody? nope. but if you are someone like i described above, check out the uzi!
