  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yea I have the older one too, the plus. It works good if you keep an eye on the hygro and get it adjusted right.

The digital would certainly be nice.

Yea, my only complaint about the plus is how difficult it is to tell what level you have it on or how much to adjust it. Without having to wait for the reading to settle on your hygro

The digital hygrometer on this new unit is pretty much a waste of time. There is no way of recalibrating it if it is not accurate. I have been told by a supplier that the first batch that arrived from china IS having calibration issues. So if you set it at 65%, its likely not to be AT 65%. Now you need a second hygrometer to check the CO. Original model was better.

Agreed...Why screw with something that isn't broken? All the new gizmo's added seem like more things to go wrong. My original CO+ is still going strong :applause:

I assume you are referring to the XL. I have an old one, and one of the smaller Oasis XL. Check the gallery on my picks labeled "Humi#2 bottom." I have had problems with it, and I had to return it for a new one because the sensor wasn't working properly, which caused the fan to run continuously (despite being saturated with water). This replacement one that I have works, but it reads 5% higher than it actually is. I have it set at 72.5%, which when measured with other hygrometers is between 67-68%. I can deal with this. BTW, I have had no problems with the old model cigar oasis.

Yep. It has a foam block in the cartridge instead of the wick in the previous version. The digital display is cool and with the buttons its easy to use. Whether it reads correct remains to be seen.

I'm not so concerned with it being my hygro as i have one in there, so as long it as it humidifies well and is consistent.

Yea, consistency is key....I find it's a bit tricky sometimes to get it dialed in with the old models. Glad that got rid of that whick, it was a peice of crap IMO.

I kinda like the foam if it works out. The reason my old one broke was it tipped over and some of the water must have gotten into the parts.

With the foam, all the water gets absorbed and isn't free to slide around.

So far so good. Its about 3% off from my hygro. I can live with that as long as it doesn't have any fan problems. The digital readout is very nice and easy to use. I also like the foam instead of tank of water with the wick in it.
