  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ron,
What is the principle behind using thermo electric cooling in larger cabinet style humidors? Also how does it really work? What is the cooling of the cabinet helping?

I guess I'm just a little confused on how the thermoelectric thing works and why you need it for a humidor.

the thermoelectric cooling units have several advantages over your typical wine cooler or home refrigeration units. First, they require no venting or air exchange. they get installed in a cabinet, and your cabinet remains airtight. compressor type units require venting, so you go through a lot more distilled water.
compressor type units dump a lot of cooled air at once. more condensation problems and humidity swings. TE units produce a more subtle, slower temperature change that is easier on your cigars.

besides the fans, there are no moving parts, so they are reliable.

they dont take up a lot of room, so excellent for smaller cigar cabinets.
