I'm not one for doing reviews but here goes:
Cigar Reviewed: Thomson Royale
Country of Origin: USA
Factory: Connecticut
Wrapper: Connecticut
Binder: Connecticut
Filler: Connecticut
Size: 5 1/2 Inches
Ring Gauge: 56
Vitola: Robusto Gordo
This cigar is covered in a variegated hay-colored wrapper that has quite a bit of tooth to it and is crisscrossed with noticeable veins but very smooth to the touch. The aroma coming from the wrapper is a combination of not unpleasant metallic elements with a hint of milk chocolate.
1st Third - Right off the bat I noticed a concentrated creamy milky sweetness and a bit of cocoa behind it that I felt on various points on my tongue.
2nd Third - The wrapper started to flake in places and I was forced to remove part of it. The flavor is much the same as the first third, really one dimensional up to now. Very fast burn and no noticeable smoke or ash.
Final Third - It really changed towards the end, more concentration of flavors and a wonderful finish. The wrapper continued to flake and needed manual adjustment, however this is one of the few sticks I endured with right to the end.
Verdict: 93 - This turned out to be a shorter smoke than I had anticipated considering the size of the cigar. If you only have time for a three minute smoke I would definitely recommend this cigar. I would partake in this cigar again and even though its a mild cigar it had a lot of body and a great finish. I shall be picking up a few more of these sticks, though I suspect they will not make it to my humidor.
