  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I was excited to buy this lighter looking at the design over the internet. I really like the fact that the reservoir is not only large, but clear plastic, offering an instant check as to it’s fill. Unfortunately even though yes it does give great burn times, using it is downright painful unless you are the sort that only uses it for 10-15 seconds and lights your cigar very quickly. I know many of you do that, so this may be a good choice for you. However for those like me that take a minute or more to toast, and light cigars fairly slowly – this is a terrible choice. Not only is there a great deal of spring pressure on the small button, but the design of the frame has many small pressure points, leaving marks on your hand, fingers and thumb after only a minute.

Bryan, why would you be looking for another lighter ? The Slidelighter you recommended me is great ! Are you dissatisfied with it ? Seems like it would be hard to replace .

btw - my favorite part of you videos is when you toast , light and take the first puff of the cigar ... he he

I have a lighter fetish and probably have around 40 lighters since I started my cigar habit 40 years ago. When I see a lighter that has something I like, I buy it. My latest one is a 2 in 1 lighter,,,torch w/soft flame and this has turned into my "go to" lighter now. I love using a soft flame to lite my cigars as it is a better light IMO and doesn't take very much butane. If there is too much wind I can use the torch so I get the best of both worlds.

I'm not specifically looking for a new one - I actually bought a bunch at once just for review material, and will continue to do so in the future. :)

"this is not by any means a comfortable lighter" How many lighters are designed to hold in the lit position for excess of two minutes? And why would someone want to hold a lighter lit for so long?

This is the only one so far that's been uncomfortable to hold at all. It doesn't take 2 min, it takes 30-45 seconds to be irritating. Some of us like to slowly toast cigars for 1-2 minutes, it's pretty common.

Hmm, I don't toast every cigar I smoke, hell, I don't toast many of them actually, but I don't think I've ever toasted a cigar for two minutes. I did once, light a cigar just from toasting, but just did it cause I was bored. 15 second toast and light that bitch.

Well, nothing wrong with that, many people feel the same way. Torches are built for that style, natural flames for us slow guys :)
