  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

For anyone not from Canada, Tim Horton's is the holy grail of coffee shops in Canada so I find this headline hilarious.

A 20-year-old woman is suing Starbucks after her 24-year-old supervisor, Tim Horton, allegedly made ‘sex demands’ at work.

According to abcnews.com, Kati Moore claims that Horton, made regular demands for sex when she started working at Starbucks at the age of 16. Horton allegedly sent hundreds of text messages, including one which read, “I’d like to f--- tomorrow.”

"I felt like I didn't have a choice," Moore confessed to ABC News."I was ashamed and embarrassed. And I felt like he had complete control over my job.”

After Moore’s mother found out what was happening between her daughter and Horton, she immediately notified prosecutors who then laid criminal charges against him. Horton claimed he didn’t know Moore was only 16 and pleaded guilty to charges of illegal sex with a minor. He served four months in prison.

Moore says her other supervisors and managers were aware of what was happening but did nothing to stop it. Moore has since sued Starbucks for not responsibly protecting the young barista from Horton.

Starbucks executives refused to comment, but released a statement which said “These two employees concealed their relationship from Starbucks, which violated company policy. We are confident that the case will ultimately be resolved finding that Starbucks is not at fault.”

An absolutely brilliant headline! To be honest I really though it was a typo until I read further into story, unfortunate for the people involved but I still enjoyed a laugh at first glance.
