  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've been enjoying this wine for the past couple of days and thought I'd share my tasting notes.

After originally opening, I decanted and let this breathe for 15 min. The color of this wine is very dark ... an inky purplish/black. The initial aromas are ripe plums, grape jam, and cotton candy. Somewhat typical of Aussie Shiraz but I was a bit surprised at the taste. While I was expecting a bold fruit bomb, I actually got a fairly balanced wine. It does have some nice, dark fruit flavors with some moderate tannins. But it also has some noticeable acidity in the mix, which makes it a good food wine. (It went very well with spinach + cheese ravioli with garlic marinara.)

The acidity does mellow out over time though ... after two days it's almost gone. It's 13.5% ABV, which is a bit low these days. But it means you can drink a bit more without feeling like you just had a couple shots of hard liquor.

A good overall value at $12.
