  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Reading Shawn's great review on the JDN Antano got me itching to do a review. So i tried to choose a smoke that isnt too popular and is a "hidden gem" so to speak. So, that got me to the Torano family's 50 Years cigar. Great cigar that i love very much and i never see anything of torano on here hardly. So i figured this might spark some interest to somebody :waving:

Cigar: Carlos Torano 1959 Exodus 50 Years
Size: 6 x 50 (sh. churchill)
Wrapper: Brazilian Arapiraca Sun-Grown
Binder: Honduras
Filler: Esteli & Pueblo Nuevo, Nicaragua
Strength: Medium

Prelight and Construction: the prelight draw gives me nice notes of sweet wood and leather. Wrapper is smooth and oily with just a couple noticeable veins. I am a punch kinda guy, but i decided to cut this one...just because haha. Cap came off very nicely with no flake and wrapper smells like cinnamon to me.

1st Third: A toasty spice and hints of leather and sweet cedar welcome my palate within the first few draws. kind of reminds me of a sweet pipe tobacco at the very beginning. A pleasant nasal spice is present after the first few draws. The draw is loose and very woody with a great taste coming in. The exhale leaves with notes of chocolate and raisins. The ambient smoke really reminds me of the notes i got from the 59 exodus.

2nd Third:
The spice has picked up just a little and now the cigar is also sporting a nice woody/minty flavor. Burning a tad too fast for my liking. i am taking extra care to smoke this one very slowly...still a very sweet inhale, spice and wood on the exhale. This cigar is incredibly balanced. The flavors are quickly transferring to a nice woody flavor.

Final Third: Spice is really starting to pick up now...still very smooth and balanced. Slight metallic taste upon exhale but nothing too bitter. toasty wood is the dominant flavor and it is masked by a nice underlying spice that has yet again came and went. very good cigar. i def. recommend trying this! my favorite in the torano line.

thanks for reading everyone!

Paul, great review. Love the hat . I have a Torano Signature line in my humi that I have been putting off smoking. Perhaps I shall light it up this afternoon.

Excellant review and Pic's Paul!

It's the best Torano cigar out there in my opinion.

Nice hat Paul, where did you get it? :stretchgr

For a guy that claimed earlier today to be "lazy" when it came to reviews, you managed to pull of a pretty nice one :)

Sounds like a smoke I'd like, I'll have to check this out at some point

Nice job Paul!

This cigar is a gem and I have been smoking these for awhile now. I agree as I don't see a whole lot of buzz on this cigar at all and that's fine as if it were to get out how good they are the price will go up. Shhhhhhhhhhhh.
