  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Torch Lighter & Gullotine broke... need new ones.

Also don't know if you shoot but I have used spent brass as a punch plenty of times. Works just fine.
What a great idea!!! Never even thought to try it...
Yeah one time I was out hiking and forgot to bring a cutter, but I always carry a .45 long colt casing in my hiking bag (Its a good luck charm. First .45 round I ever fired from when I was like 10) and I was like well it looks like a punch... lol. Does the trick every time.

I would definitely like to get a good cutter but cigarbid seems to require you get on in the early part of a deal and who knows how long that'd take.
It takes a little patience, but I was willing to try for a while to save some money. What I found to work the best was to search the 1 day auctions. Decide what the most you want to pay is (for example I felt that if I was going to pay more than $30.00 for my camo cutter then I would just get one from a B&M) and bid that amount at/near the start of the auction. The other option is to find the auctions that are getting ready to end and try to outbid the others as the timer winds down. I've had better success getting good deals with the 1 day auctions though. Either way you'll know within (at most) 24 hours if you've won the item or not.

The Ronson JetLites are great, however, make sure to use a quality fuel like Vector. I've found (ironically) that using the cheaper fuel such as Ronson will diminish its performance and ultimately ruin the lighter.
Yep. It's weird too. I've never had a Ronson not work perfectly out of the package, but I tried some Ronson butane once (it was all that was on the shelf at the store down the street and I was out) and the lighters I filled with it wouldn't work worth a damn. Wised up, went and got some better quality butane. Purged the lighters, refilled them, and they worked like a charm again. I don't know what they fill them with from the manufacturer, but it's not the same crap they sell as butane :dunno:.

I havent had that experience with ronsons at all...

I fill them with "cheap" butane almost exclusively... Ive been using a bottle of ronson butane I picked up at walgreens for several months now.. prior to that it was a bottle of the zippo "blue" butane that you see in gas stations, convienience stores, etc..

Never a problem..

I dont use the cheap stuff on my more finicky lighters or the more expensive ones..

but the ronson soft flames and jetlites get the "garbage".. and seem to keep on going strong no matter what..

I am with most others here that you can not go wrong with a Ronson, for the price point its one to put up against the greats ;) This is my go to work horse lighter. Walgreens shows them on their site but they don't ship them, click here.

Also if you like a soft flame over the torch a pack of 3 ronson refillable soft flames can be had for around $3 as well. I have found these at major drug stores such as Walgreens and CVS.

I have also not had problems with using cutter such as cuban crafters perfect cuts. Click here to see what they carry. Prices range from $3.99 and up, but great little cutters to have around.
Based on your recommendation I picked this up at Wally World today for $3.45.
