  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Treating myself to a VSG Torp

Well it's a boring Tuesday night in Turkey. I'm drinking some wine and smoking myself a VSG Torp. I figured I'd dip into the box again. I love VSGs and have ever since I first smoked one back in 2001. I still have the band from that one I smoked it was before the "restyling". Now I have a box of Wizards and these Torps. Hmm VSGs........

I guess I need to give VSGs another shot, I split a box of illusions and did not care for them, I still have 3 illusions and a few more of different sizes, I believe I will smoke one this evening.

Each person's taste buds are different so what I like you may not. If you'd like to give a torp a try let me know. I'll trade you for something different if you haven't had a torp. I don't even remember what size it was I had back in '01. I'm guessing it was a toro or corona size. Whatever wacky name Ashton has for them.

I really need to rephrase what I said, I did think it was a good smoke, and did enjoy it, but it did not wow me, I have only smoked 2 illusions, never any other vitolas, I do not think I have a torp, but they are generally my favorite, I will have to pick one up. I have one that looks like a Corona Gorda I will smoke tonight. To each their own, but when so many people speak so highly of a cigar and it does nothing for you, you have to wonder if you got a bad stick/batch.

I've got a belicoso i may have to try. Like tegu, i've ahd a couple, but they didn't wow me. My very first was teh torpedo and it was terrible. Had serious burn issues whcih affected the entire smoke. The other was a tres mystique. agian, good, but not wow.

will give this one a shot though. now that my tastes have been a bit more tuned, it may be different now.

I'm getting close to the end of the cigar and it's great. There are certain flavor profiles I very much enjoy. Of the cigars I currently own boxes of VSGs fit it. The Oliva V Lancero fits, Aurora 100 Anos Beli, and PAN 64s so far. I have not had a PAM yet but I'm working on buying a box after my Tat Black jar.

I had my first VSG ever, a torp, at Casa Fuente in Las Vegas week before last. I paid too much, but it was a wonderful treat. On my budget, this will be a very rare cigar treat!

My first impresion of the VSG was not wow and since I had bought a handfull I put them in "time out" hoping they would be nicer when I pulled them out of the Humi.

Next time I pulled I liked them better and chalked it up to age, but the time after I wasn't wowed again. Not sure if it's the humidity, what I drank with it or what, but I'm still not decided myself. Not sure if even at it's best it's worth the good smoke / bad smoke lotto. Too many I enjoy every time.

What did you think of those toga clad ladies at Casa F?

I must say I am realy enjoying the VSG I am smoking now, it has a distinct flavor that sets it apart, I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe I did have a bad batch....I believe I am smoking a Wizard, it is quite good.

I'd like to buy a few more boxes of these eventually. I'm eyeing the enchantments and whatever is corona sized. I'll wait till I'm back in the states to try and get them though.
