  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

As I noted a few weeks ago Koujo broke his foot off in my rear end and hit me with a couple of these sticks.

All I can say is "Laissez les bons temps rouler" In other words, let the good times roll!

Now Koujo noted that this stick had about a year or so on it so I was expecting big things and I was not disappointed in the least!

The pre-light draw was somewhat tight and flavors of cinnamon and nutmeg abound. Off with it's head and it's on!

The fist third was nothing short of amazing. Copious amounts of smoked billowed from this stick. The proper mixture of spice and the aforementioned nutmeg and cinnamon were there.

The second third is when the stick took off for me, it appears as if the the two main characters snuck in their buddies caramel and raisin. It was at this point I had to look and make sure I was not eating a candy bar, all that was missing was chocolate!

Lo and behold, in the final third, chocolate reared its head and the complexity of all these flavors had me wishing that this stick would have never ended.

All I have to say is that next payday, the folks down in NOLA gonna be getting a call from yours truly.

Damn, this was a fine cigar! I have a fresher one that a buddy picked up at Mardi Gras as part of a 3-stick sampler that I am going to smoke this evening for comparison. This way I'll know if I need to lay 'em down or just enjoy them as I see fit.

I used to work at CFNO (where I picked up this habit!). I haven't smoked many Tres Hermanos since they switched wrappers in 2005 right before Katrina, but they were superb when they used a Mexican maduro wrapper.

Factoid: The real "Tres Hermanos" are the Rodriguez brothers (one being Juan of PDR). They were original co-owners along with one of the current owners. Juan was the original blender of Tres Hermanos, Plantation Reserve, and Vieux Carre. They were all fantastic originally, but the blends have been tweaked a few times since then. I'll have to revisit them next time I go to NOLA!

Freshies are just as good also. I seldom carry any smokes when I go to NOLA cause I know I will most likely pick up a three or fiver of these bad boys and I never manage to save any for the trip home. By far one of my favorite NC's out there. Yes, they are that good!

This is amazing. To think that Juan of PDR and this stick are less than one degree of separation from one another.

Seriously, I have loved PDR's since I was able to get my hands on them and now this stick.

I smoked the fresher one on the ride to the Credit Union, and damn. While you could tell it was a bit younger, the raisins and cinnamon were a bit more pronounced and there was a breadiness to it that made the smoke a little chewier in a positive way. The finish on this stick has me "caught up".

Just wish I had another one!
