  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I got a free tin of 4 from Cigars International a year back or so and i enjoyed them so much that in May 2016 i ordered a 4 fer (4 tins, 16 cigars Total) from Thompson when they had them for $39.95. At the time i thought it was a great purchase and was going to buy them again but then they were sold out and i moved on to over cigars.

I smoked a whole tin then abandoned the rest to the bottom of one of my Humidors. Its really a beautifully constructed cigar with a great looking pigtail and the tins are classy and protect the cigar well.

Its surprising but Cigars International has these on clearance for $28.62 for 4 tins (16 total cigars).

That a great deal since they're extremely well constructed and the flavor is similar to a Punch Pita EMS but bolder yet smoother and in my opinion much better done.

I had these stored at 69% rh and after 6 months these are a nice walk down memory lane.

Right off the bat the cigar is well packed and the flavors are a rich smooth tobacco. The flavors i'm getting are a light coffee, leather, some earth, and with a nice hint of spice and cream. Its not a flavor bomb by any means but the flavors are rich, well balanced, and work well together. The finish is clean but moderately long. The strength is a low medium and the body a solid medium as well. The draw is perfect with a good amount of resistance without being tight. The burn line was wonky to start and it did require a touch up to keep the burn line acceptable.

Half way through the flavors deepen to a nice dark roast coffee with plenty of cream, the earth and leather become secondary while the spice becomes almost unnoticeable. The strength increases just a tick and rounds out at a nice medium and the body remains the same (medium). The burn line starts to behave and i only have to touch it up one more time.

I slow down my pace as i wind up the smoke because it was starting to get a little hot. The weather here is terrible at a sweltering 73 degrees fahrenheit and i don't know how i can cope:whistle:. The swarm of gnats, mosquitoes, and flies are finally starting to thin since the lows are now consistently dropping to mid 50's. For those that are curious the mosquito season in Arizona (Maricopa county, i.e. the part that matters) starts in October and doesn't end till mid to late November.

Any hows, the cigar basically remains the same till i decide to call it quits after ~50 minutes. I could have nubbed it and gotten another 5-10 minutes out of it but the gnats and mosquitoes started to bug me once i slowed down the pace. The smoke really keeps them away but a little breeze picked up and since i was forced to slow down they started to swarm me. Oh a little warning the ash holds on well when your mad puffing it but once you slow down it only hangs on for 3/4" at most so ash it otherwise it will fall on your lap.

Seriously at $28.62 for 4 tins of 4 cigars this is a no brainer. Its not a flavor bomb or boutique cigar but its a rich, smooth, medium strength, and medium bodied cigar that is extremely well constructed.

Here's the burn progression:
