  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Greetings,

In a little situation her in Ohio called WINTER. I am looking to stop the freeze / thaw cycle on my body each day and was looking for solutions to my current situation.

I have a office / den in the basement that is approx 200sqft in size. It has a door on the entrance and a drop ceiling. The only window is one of those sunken below grade into a half moon pit windows that do not open.

In order to be able to smoke in the house I need to ensure that NO smoke goes upstairs (kids, wife) and that the smell is relatively unnoticeable. I would like to not have to run duct work, etc or remove air as the heat is from baseboard electric heater that may not be able to keep up.

So, I found this unit online: http://tinyurl.com/yjr4n5b

I read a few comments posted here 10yrs ago or so, maybe it was 2008 and not 1998, either way they just said the Trion 400 "do not work". BUT, Leaf and Ale uses them and says they work great. The posts here were the only negative but the sampling pool was not that large

So, Does anyone have one, have comments, have alternatives, etc. looking to try and get some more real information before I lay out money that could be spent on Short Story Maduros, etc....

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Allright guys, i found a used Trion 800 which does 400,600, and 800 cfm for half the cost of a new 400 so I jumped on it. I found a parts supplier that was kind enough to spend some one on one time with me over the phone on a Sunday (he was paying bills and picked up the phone). Hopefully everything works out.

Will post pics and feedback when I get it up in a few weeks. Hope it al goes well

I was gonna say earlier, places that sell used restaurant equipment might be a good place to find a cheaper smoke eater - if there's something like that in your area.

....don't you have to run a "fresh air" duct to it?
Nope, thats the beauty of it. Cleans the air and discharges on all four side back into the room. Keeps the heat / ac of the air and provides circulation. They call it "Coanda effect airflow pattern"

It does ionize and I have read the pros and cons if that and I figure it is such a little amount that the cigar smoke is worse...

The link I posted has been updated since it seemed to be broken

Was not in my area, but it was a restaurant that had it removed due to the new smoking bans that went into effect....
