This is not a joke. But it's funny.
My daughter (who is an art major and would never describe herself as a "math person") works part time at a department store. A customer asked for the dimensions of a watch that the store was selling. So she measured the diameter with a ruler and then took out a calculator to compute the circumference.
The customer was amazed. "How did you measure the round part?"
"I didn't," she replied. "I used pi."
He didn't seem to understand what she meant, so she continued, "You know....pi times diameter?"
"Oh!" he exclaimed, "I never took calculus!"
