Hey guys,

anyone have experience using one of those cheap sterilite bins you can get at Target etc? I can get a 66qt bin for like 11 bucks or something, and that seems a lot cheaper than I'd pay for a comparable sized cooler. The lid locks on, not sure about the seal, but it wouldn't be very difficult to improve I wouldn't think.

Any opinions, experience, advice? Sterilite vs. igloo/coleman?

Thanks!

I have no experience, but I really doubt that the seal will be good enough even with modifications to use the tupperware... You might be better off putting up a little more money and going with the cooler...

I have to agree, go with a cooler. Better insulated and will hold the Humidity much better.

Poor seal and no insulation will make it very difficult to keep the humidity and temps stable. 48 quart coleman at Walmart is $13 bucks.

48Qt, is kinda small, isn't it. my 70qt only holds 11 or 12 boxes, with room for beads and fans and cedar and a little air space.

Yeah you know in hindsight, I was thinking about this after I made the thread and wondering about the insulation factor and how thin that sterilite is.

Maybe not such a good idea. If I'm going to spend the $$ on the sticks, I reckon I can spring for a good home for 'em!

Thanks guys

Good call man, I love my coolidor, and it holds all my valuable sticks too. Plus it is just as good at holding temp and humidity as a desktop humis does. Puck up a good large cooler, they all come in under $50 so go as large as you can and you'll have a great large storage humi for your boxes.

3 48qt coolers at Target: $51.00
Total area for cigars: More than enough and can seperate things like aging, daily, and weekend/special cigars.

I think this is the way to go, atleast that's what works for me.

Depends. I have 2 -125 quarts coolers for boxes, 1 48 quart for small boxes, 1 48 quart for lose sticks in bags and three 300 count desk tops. I like the 48 because they are easy to move around. The 125's sit way back in the closet.
