  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

We know that people often pair cigars with things like coffee, chocolate, or whiskey. However, I would love to hear about any unique pairing you have enjoyed!

I prefer good bourbon 80 percent of the time. There are times when I will also have a single malt Scotch. Other than whiskey, I expand my horizons by having some of these in the photos. Higher end cigars demand higher end pairing, in my opinion. If you are interested in trying these as alternative pairings I recommend not buying a cheap version. I always drink them neat.
  1. Cognac or Armagnac, same region in France. Remy and Hennessey are good too. Notice the palm warming glass in the photo.
  2. Port wines are another great, unique pairing.
  3. Artesanal Mezcal with a lime on the side.
  4. Flavored whiskey makes a good mouthwash after a 3rd cigar.

Ooooh, I like this thread. Been enjoying the sweetness of a good tequila Blanco with lighter sticks lately. And a good dark rum is amazing with maduros or sticks that have that leather/espresso/caramel thing going on. And dammit, at the beach I LOVE limed/salted beer with a Dominican stick. Ashton classics go amazing with Glenfiddich 15.

Edit: And a good tawny port with a Cavendish pipe blend.

I love port with an aged Bolivar. Something about the earthiness of the Boli and the sweetness of the port (Love that Graham's @Vintagecigarstore.com )

I am probably at bourbon 95% of the time, but another interesting pairing when I look for a little sweetness but don't want to break out the rum is Patron XO Cafe.

When alone I usually drink water or lime seltzer, but I find a nice tall vodka tonic w/ lime to be a refreshing palate cleanser... NO gin pls, lol.

Not necessarily a pairing but one evening I ate a bowl of Golden Grahams cereal and then smoked a La Reconquista. The cigar tasted just like the cereal and it was amazing.

This is the kinda thing I was waiting for. That is awesome.

On a side note, Golden Grahams is the best cereal ever.

Im kinda envious of you bourbon guys, all bourbon/whisky/scotch tastes like unleaded gasoline to me.maby its the brand??? I don't know :wtf:
BUT I found a new soft drink Dr.Pepper/cream soda Its mixed!! (I don't like Dr pepper at all) but this stuff is great with some Flat heads I have been enjoying lately.
I really want say "I enjoy a Cohiba with XXXX bourbon" but I think my palate is just plain broken.

If you're looking for a unusual way to drink harsh bourbon, try a little with your cream soda or Dr. Pepper. A crappy bourbon will do very nicely with cream soda / root beer / Dr. Pepper.
