  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Will be in NYC in the near future - staying near Times Square.

Hoping to have time in a couple of the evenings to check out cigar shops/lounges - would prefer a place I can sit down and have a cigar but open to just perusing retailers without lounges too.

I've never been to Club Macanudo - I may go just to see it. Plus they are open late.

Any places I need to hit? Maybe Davidoff Madison?

As it pertains to NCs, I'm more of a Fuente/Dominican guy so anywhere that is likely to have anything interesting would be good. Good lounges a plus. Also can't say no to places that are known sellers of HTF Tats and Viajes, right?

Thanks for any local's tips.

Davidoff on Madison
De La Concha 1390 Avenue of the Americas (between 56th and 57th)
Cigar Inn 100 2nd Ave between 53rd and 54th
Barclay Rex on 45th Street (I think) and 5th Avenue
J&R also has a shop on 5th Avenue

Davidoff also has another location at Columbus Circle in the Time Warner building. When you go in, keep the left and it's the 2nd or 3rd door on the ground floor. Their lounge is small....8 people and it's crowded....but nice. $10 min purchase to use it though, which isn't hard to do in that store.

Let me know when you're coming in and if I can get away from work, I'll come into the city and meet you for a smoke somewhere. BTW, no smoking in Times Square or Central Park.

B-Rex is my personal favorite around here, but I'm looking at checking out De La Concha one of these days.

If you're looking for a cigar bar situation, Merchants up on 61st and 1st is nice.

Let me know when you're in town if you want to get an outing together. I work in midtown.

If it happens on the 6th, I'm in.

Regarding the other meet-up (which might warrant it's own thread), I'm probably out - family obligations.

BOTLs! I am in NYC! And yes it is 2am here... why the hell did I take the late flight again?

Anyways... I'm very tempted to head to Barclay Rex tomorrow (not sure which one, will probably figure out what one is closer to Times Square as thats the area I'll be in). As for THursday, I'm very tempted to check out another shop or maybe just go back to Barclay Rex if I like it there. I'll probably only be able to sneak away for 2 hours or so each night, plus maybe dinner... (big fan of Bobby Vans!).

Would really like to meet up with anyone who can make either night (or both). Those who know me best know my schedule is kind of a 15 minute in advance type set up, but sneaking out for a cigar or so shouldn't be an issue.

Post up if you can make it and we can firm up time and place! I'll try to be as flexible as I can with everyone's travel/work needs. I think my sessions get done at 5:30p both days.

If you hit B-Rex, you'll want the one on Lexington. The one on 42nd street is probably closer to you, but it's tiny. Very well stocked for the size, but no lounge. I think all their locations close at 7:30 so be aware of that. De La Concha is a little further away, but they're open later.

I've got a class tonight, but I was planning on grabbing a smoke with a local buddy tomorrow evening anyway. We were thinking of hitting Merchants (cigar bar on 1st ave), but we're flexible if you're up for meeting up. Only issue for me is that I don't get off work until 6-6:30ish.

Ok, I think the lex one is the 51st one? I'm only a few blocks from there. Maybe ill grab a cigar before dinner then if they close at 730p? Maybe 545p? Or I'll eat a quick dinner and head over around 6 or shortly thereafter.

Argh, it looks like I'm not going to be able to meet up today after all. Forgot all about an errand I have to run close to home right after work.
