  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Urgent help!

Today my dad has invited he's best friend over for dinner because it's he's friends birthday, but the point is.

My sister, mom and I wanted to share a smoke, so i went downstairs to pick a smoke for the three of us and as I open the humidor i see that my small shot of glass that had distilled water was dropped ON TOP OF MY CIGARS! I honestly got very mad, my mom said that my dad was the last one to see my humidor (apparently he does that a lot, he likes to see what kind of sticks i have).

Does it ruin a lot the cigar??????????????????????????? :cryloud: :hanghead:

Same thing happened to me, but instead of a shot class it was a large humidification unit that decided to release its pay load of distilled water all over the top shelf...

It did ruin some of the cigars of the cigars in my situation, but a few just needed some dry boxing and time.

On the other hand... it did cause me to go a on a bombing run, so I guess some people made out on my misfortune.

Sorry to hear that happened.

All may not be lost! I've heard of placing sticks that are to wet into the fridge to dry them out some. I'm sure someone else may have had this problem and can add more.

Some got wet, like the Oliva Serie V (robusto), Cuba Aliados Cigars (robusto), a little bit my Romeo y Julieta Havana Reserve, my Perdomo 2 Limited Edition 2008 and the worst one was… :sadcry: :sadcry: my White Owl (didn't get a chance to smoke it 2 days ago because right when i was done with my Arturo Fuente, the sky started pouring cat's and dog's) i have been patting it to dry up a little, dry boxing it… i admit, i have my doubts about that one. I'm so bummed. :sadcry:

Take the really wet cigars and put them in a tupperware container with some rice, the rice will suck out the moisture. Overnight should be enough, then dry box them and check the humidity.

then go buy some Super Aborbant Polymers (SAP's) from here: http://www.watersorb.com/
They hold a lot of water and will not spill after they absorb the water. I've used these for years and with 4 kids they have saved lives more than once.

Yours is untouchable, for some reason no one sees that one, lol. I already moved my humidor, it's now in my room in a closet.

Ditto on Rob's post. SAP's are fairly cheap too. I bought 5#'s of them from water-keep.com (5#'s is a lot of beads because they weigh like nothing....) I have to change mine 2x a year...they are not as elastic as I thought they would be.

Rob>....look at the water-keep.com prices. you're paying 2x the price as i am.

Thanks Rob.

I knew there was another place but I couldn't find the link. I will try them if I ever run out of the 8lbs I bought the last time :hammersma I still have 3-4lbs left and only change them if/when I see mold.
