Viaje Summerfest 2010 Torpedo:

Prelight: A nicely constructed torpedo, feels tightly rolled. Crazy shag foot on this cigar adding about two inches to it's length! Wrapper had a strong floral smell and that was about it. Color was slightly darker than a milk chocolate brown, fairly smooth with some visible veining. I trimmed down the monstrosity of a shag foot to about half an inch to avoid a mess! The pre-light draw resistance was perfect after a fairly small snip and had a floral flavor with a decent hint of citrus. Sipping on some Eagle Rare bourbon and water. Time to light!

First Third: Smoking the half inch of what was left of the shag foot was interesting. Right of the bat producing plently of smoke that had really good chocolaty, floral tobacco flavors in it. Only a slight spice in the back of the mouth right now. The shag foot lit the actual "wrapper covered" foot nicely to my surprise! Really smooth, slightly sweet, flavorful smoke. Flavors were of creamy floral tobacco with hints of chocolate and graham cracker. The spice is delayed a few seconds after each puff, still on the back of the mouth that lingers for a while but is still only a slight spice. Now the spice is almost gone towards the end of the first third, same flavors there in the creamy smoke! Burn is razor sharp! About medium body. Loving it so far!

Second Third: Flavors started to change up pretty quickly! Now there is a more earthy, woodsy flavor and only a hint of sweet chocolate and floral notes. Spice still pretty much non existent. The smoke is very smooth. Still burning great and letting off a great aroma in the air. Still medium bodied and I'm enjoying it very much! Was going to end the second third part of the review there but now I'm getting new flavors just before the final third of toasted nuts and black coffee. Strength seemed to pick up slightly to just above a medium. This cigar definitely keeps your attention! Great!

Final Third: Starting to pick up a hint of hazelnut along with the toasted nuts and black coffee. Really, really smooth still! Burn continued to impress! Flavors remained the same until I put it down. Burn time was about 1 hour 45 minutes. Remained about a medium body.

Final thoughts: Had been hit or miss lately with Viajes for me but this one was amazing! I really enjoyed the cigar from start to finish! This is the first time trying this cigar for me so I can't really say how age has treated them but I'm guessing very well!! If anybody has been sitting on a few of these I'd recommend firing one up soon!
