  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Whenever I lookthrough my list of vendors, I look for some nicely aged cigars. It seems rather hard to find aged cigars that are aged further back than 1998why does that seem to be? Also there are a ton of selections from 98, and 99it seem like the vendors can't sell those aged sticks, I know that those years were not great years but they all can't be let's just say "off" can they? Being that I'm still kind of new to all of this, is it simply a crap shoot? Or are some brands better to buy from the late 90's than others? I'd like to snatch up a couple of boxes of 98 stuff, does anyone think they will drop prices to try and move the stuff that isnt selling? I see a lot of it on all the vendor sites.

The 98 stuff is good, if you can find Boli's or HdM's or Partagas those are a few of the lines that I like in that vintage. The 99 stuff is hit and miss...ask around and see if anyone has stuff from 99 that they like and shoot for that.

There is vintage stuff out there from the 70's and 80's but you have to have a deep pocket to be able to buy that stuff. If you want some help finding that type of vintage sticks PM me and I will guide you in the right direction.

I agree, most 98 stock has been good, not so much the 99 and early 00 stuff. I think part of the reason so much stock from those years remains is the cigar boom ended just before then but production was still up. This is a theory of mine, I could probably find more concrete evidence.

Do you know what it is like to spend "X" amount of dollars on a box and end up with about 30% of the duck pluckers plugged ??? :sadcry: :sadcry:

I like most '97/'98s though Boli, ERDM, LGC and Partagas have all been tremendous for me. Beware the thinner guage cigars that don't seem to move on both sides of 2000, and ask for an inspection. I have been burnt when even told construction was ok.

Yup. Had some '98 Clasicos, most of which became Petite Coronas. . .:cursing: I could not smoke those things with a Shop-Vac. . .They were superbly constructed, at least visually, but about 60% - 70% plugged.

Rumor has it that the '98 Partagas are excellent and the RyJ Churchills from the same year were good, but nowhere near the '97 vintage. Some say the '00 BBF's are wonderful, as are SLR's and ERDM's from '01. . .
