  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

OK this might be a repeat thread if so sorry.

Who has it, do you like it and what are the hidden fees if any. I am looking into it and just want a little more info.

Thanks,

i've got teleblend (formerly sunrocket, well, sort of). Its VOIP just like vonage, just much cheaper ( I think I pay $12 a month). Other side is I think there is more set up involved on my end.

Anyway, I like it. It suits my purposes perfectly. I'm mainly a cell phone user, and just have a land line for the hell of it, and for my alarm system to work over (even though it has a cellular uplink as well)

It was kinda crappy when I used DSL, and was using most of the bandwidth online (streaming video, etc.), it would sound choppy, like you had a bad cell connection almost. Its fine now that I have cable. I can surf and place calls clearly.

Only other negative is it won't work if you're power is out. Or if you're internet is down (which seems to be the more common thing)

Have used Vonage for about 5 years now. No problems. Here's what I pay:

Residential Premium Unlimited Plan 24.99
Regulatory Recovery Fee 0.99
Emergency 911 Cost Recovery 0.99
Federal Universal Service Fee 1.70
Sales Tax 1.43
Total Amount 30.10

Ya, I don't know what those extra fees are either, but still beats the hell out of AT&T.

I am a VOIP user but I use Skype. You can set up a house phone with skype in and all the normal cool stuff with vonage like unlimited US long distance for $72 a year. You just have to buy the hardware setup and run it through your computer. They also make wifi phones so that if you are anywhere with a wireless network (your house?) you can use your phone service. I don't know what vonage is like for international calls but if I call my brother's cell phone in japan I pay $.15 a min. I figure that's pretty reasonable.

Not trying to sell it but just let you know it's there as a cheap option.

I had vonage while overseas in Bahrain, and other then the 120=220 conversion and the fact you need a good internet connection I loved vonage. It's hard to beat for the 33.00 I paid them to have unlimited everything.

Beware: If you end your contract before 24 months you'll be charged 39.95 term fee...

If I hadn't got a package deal with Verizon I'd still have vonage.
