Got Damn. I'm sitting here at home monitoring the pup. He just got nailed in the snout by a Black Racer. Thank God it wasn't anything worse and it only barely got him. I can only hope he actually learned from it and will stay away from ANY snakes from here on in.

A buddy at work had to take a shovel to a pygmy rattler in his yard earlier this week. Pray for rain folks. It's coming, being the rainy season soon, but the sooner we get out of this damned drought, the sooner all these damn critters go back to where they belong.

Thanks Steve. I doubt you'll be anywhere you need to worry, lol. And yeah, the gators have been frisky too. It happens whenever we get a drought.

Snakes scare the hell out of me...I worry all the time about them and my two dogs out here. I hate the damn things. Glad your pup is ok...YIKES!

Some folks were talking about snake avoidance training on a dog-related board I frequent. Wonder if y'all have such near to you.

Not a worry up here. Now, bear and moose avoidance...that's another issue.
