  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

World Extreme Cagefighting® returns to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, August 9 with a bout that will determine the best bantamweight fighter in the world. WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Angel Torres (36-1) defends his crown against the undefeated Brian Bowles (7-0). Torres, largely considered to be among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, hopes a win in August will cement his status as the best fighter in 135-pound history. Standing in his way is the heavy-handed Brian Bowles, a native of Athens, Georgia, who boasts a knack for finishing fights.

WEC: Torres vs. Bowles, Sunday, August 9, live on VERSUS from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The new WEC Bantamweight Champion (winner by KO) is Brian Bowles.

He stopped Miguel Angel Torres' 17 fight win streak, he hadn't lost in over 5 years.

(and Gordy's cousin was at the fight.)

Stunned didn't think anyone in the bantam weight division could knock him out cold decision him maybe but never thought he'd go down this hard. I'm hoping, after seeing this fight, people stop complaining about early stoppages the refs job is to protect the fighter not watch him get pounded like a punching bag.

Ditto the late stoppage. I know you want to give the champion the benefit of the doubt but when a fighters out he's out. better a fighter lose the fight than suffer brain damgae. Torres just got a little careless in trying to finish the fight.

The fights were pretty cool. After the fights most of the fighters were chillin with the fans in the lobby for pictures, etc. Great stuff. I still can't believe we sat through almost four hours of mediocre fights to see Torres knocked the f**k out in the first round. I agree with you GP, he was going in for the kill when he got knocked down to the mat and then he was finished off.
