Yerba mate for life.
It's been a while since I've posted an update on my life. I don't mean to use this as a blog but just wanted to let you guys know how I was doing. I got a job two weeks ago as a receptionist for a law firm. The pay is the same as an entry level IT guy and it's a hell of a lot less stressful. Things are going better financially now that I am employed.
I've found some excellent restaurants here in the East Valley. In Chandler there is an excellent Polish food place, Na Zdrowie (nazhdrovia is the pronunciation). I go there with my friend Slawek and his wife, Margo along with a few other of the Habanos Torres regulars. Another good place I've found is Golden Valley in Mesa; best Chinese food I've had in Arizona. Then there is one of my staples, Don Pancho's Tortas y Tacos in Mesa. Great place.
I've been smoking a little stronger lately. There's this Churchill I really like. My friend uses all 20 year aged, Nicaraguan and I think Honduran as well, tobacco. It has a very dark wrapper, not very oily looking but it is somewhat veiny. The taste is very full and robust, no spiciness, but you can tell it has some strength. It has a tighter draw than I normally prefer but it is in no way difficult to draw, just a result of only a 49 ring gauge. As I smoke it the taste just gets better. The best flavor comes in the last three inches. It has enough nicotine to wipe me out which I only desire occasionally. This cigar goes very well with coffee and yerba mate (most cigars do). It burns quite evenly and I can smoke it down to about the last half-inch before it starts to die out.
I've met some excellent people in the past few weeks and it looks like I may soon be no longer completely single and unattached... That's a big change. She's cute as hell.
As far as my morning drink of choice goes I've still been imbibing yerba mate like it's the cure for cancer. I recently picked a different brand and style. I get Nobleza Gaucha elaborada that's been aged for 24 months. The aging nearly eliminates all of the bitterness of some yerba mate brands I've had in the past. It comes in a black and red bag.
Well, that's about all I've got to talk about. Thanks for reading this much.
