  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What are some good Cuban Rums?

Havana Club, Ron Varadero, Matusalem Anejo Superior. That being said, I prefer Zacapa, old blend Zaya and Ron Centenario to Cuban rum for sipping by a longshot.

The major player in Cuban rum is Havana Club. If you can find it, try the 15 year of the Cuban Barrel Proof. The 7 year version you can find everywhere.
There's a new Havana Club rum called Maximo that will set you back about $2000 per bottle.

Had a bottle of the HC Barrell Proof sent to me from a BOTL in Japan...

It's very good. Think Ron Zacapa 23, only considerably less sweetness, and a little more ooomph (sharper bite)....but still quite smooth.

Depends on the mood...but I like em' both.

$2000 is a bit more than I wanted to drink. Maybe when I get my big NFL contract. Although they sure are taking their time. I just turned 44.

I want to spend maybe $400 or less

You guys don't read... ALthough I love Zafra, Zacapa, Zaya, its about Cuban Rums, not that we can get any here... Having said that, HC 7 year is ok, but Elixir De Cuba Legendario 7 year is da bomb! Great flavors and pour it from the freezer to sip and you are in heaven.. My favorite rum hands down!

All I know is some dude sent me a "snow globe" of Havana Club 7 Year for winning a contest.... I am not much of a rum guy but I damn near killed a 750 ml bottle until gravity took over and the floor was much closer than it appeared!

I read fine, Bill, and listed 3 "good" Cuban rums...I just think that there are much better rums out there than Cuban ones.

Wouldn't you like to know?
Legendario runs about $4d a bottle here in Alberta. We do have regular shortages of it here though. I think we may also be the only province in Canada that gets it as well.
