What do I want for Christmas?

My in-laws want a list from me. And no, I can't ask for Cubans. They wont buy me those.

I already asked for an external hard drive and I figured that would be enough but they want a list.

I figured I'd ask for some decent non-Cubans. Either some Hemis or some Ashton that I know his local shoppe has.

So what does an Alaskan house dad need?

forget about the cash and just do this:

1. Sit around and surf the internet all day (this will be the hard part for you)
2. Post on various message boards about this (hornfans too, you're on the way).
3. Surf all sorts of sites for cigar accessories (nice lighter/cutter)
4. Surf the Co-op for EVERY UT thing that's cool.
5. Ask for a trip to Pasadena

1. Transfer out of Alaska
2. Transfer to Texas
3. Repeat 1 and 2.

I'm guessing the cash option isn't available at all then, huh?

I had no idea they'd spend that much, which makes the RB thing sting even worse.

Oh, get an iPod nano for your workout program or something.

or, try to hunt down an XBox 360.

Yeah, Scott the sting is real bad. They wont send me to Pasadena but they will spend $700+ on Christmas presents. That would almost pay for a plane ticket.

The external HD I asked for cost about $250 and I figured that'd be it but now they want a list of other stuff. And I always end up with 3-4 Ralph Lauren shirts (at $65 a pop) and 4-5 other gifts. I really just wish they'd fork over all the money they spend.

Yeah, I know, tough life.

On a side note, my in-laws created a monster with my wife. She thinks that we have to out do her parents when it comes to Christmas gifts. She's bummed right now because I finally put my foot down and said we're going do this on a budget this year. X dollars for so and so, Y for that one. None of this blind buying stuff.

you need to put that chick in check. kidding. kind of like how we have the tree up, undecorated right now. it's 12/02. we leave for a cruise on 12/16. we get back, and go straight to dallas through the 3rd, when we leave for pasadena.

I asked, "Do we really even want to mess with decorating hte tree, just to have it up for around 2 weeks, and not even being home the week bfore christmas?

the answer was a resounding, "Of course!"

maybe you could get some cool shit that you could sell on ebay and buy cigars with the $.

bj,

you can ask for a "gift certificate" at fcc:

http://www.finestcubancigars.com/directory.cfm?CategoryID=68

so you can get, you know, a lighter or something. if they are still freaked out by the "cuban" part, ask for an amex or visa gift card and blow it all on cigars.

http://usa.visa.com/personal/cards/prepaid/visa_gift_card.html

http://www10.americanexpress.com/sif/cda/page/0,1641,16130,00.asp

that's what we give out at the office for birthdays and shit. we buy a "thoughtful" present and then get them a gift card.

I also like scott's ipod nano suggestion.
