Shmear
Megan the Great
Well, explaining why I was absent all this time, this is what has been going on...
I was drawing my ass off, I gave in a folder that contained more than 100 pages of only that. Been working a sh!t load on illustrator (of which I am very happy, next semester will be photoshop) been working on a small project with that, knowing how crappy the situations have gotten here in Mexico. Other than that, here comes the exciting part...
Around the end of March I was included in a competition from school (only 50 students where selected carefully) and this was the deal, the theme was "Sick Planet" and we had to make a dress inspired in Garbage, Drought and the Oil Spill.
I picked Oil Spill. My inspiration was a seagull trying to get out of the ocean and drenched in Oil, completely covered in black and brown. So... I had to use feathers and black, haha.
Though, lot of stuff happened with me trying to make that dress, I lost my chance to work properly with a teacher because during that time was spring break, for 2 weeks, the first week everyone was off and the second week we had to go back to school to get the dresses started from zero but that second week I had gone to santa Barbara with my bro to visit my sister. So when I came back everyone was sewing their asses off already with the directors authorization already, I still had to do mine from muslin and show it to her and get the green light from her... I had to do it twice, after that I was sewing sooooooooooo much, they where weeks of only 5 hours of sleep, because I still had to do homework and sh!t. So... here are some pics of things of which I am very proud of that I made.
I had to draw that and fill it with magic markers... it was a b!tch, but I did it... though, sorry that I only have a pic of it half done.
This drawing was put on exposition.
The dress on muslin
And here's the design and the some of the materials I used for the dress.
And the process of the dress.
Oh, and I made a sh!t load of fake feathers with fabric.
And that's me... sewing by hand for the last details.
And these are a couple of pictures when it was the fashion show... I was dissapointed when they said that I couldn't be in backstage to put on the design that I made and let alone that, they didn't even put on the dress right nor the necklace I had made... Oh well. The shoes... well, they didn't fit the model, I wasn't the only one.
And... the winners, who ever got to first place (from each category) they would have a professional photo shoot of their design and will be published in a fashion magazine here in mexico and the other ones (one second and two thirds from each category) would also get a professional photo shoot but not getting published anywhere.
Here go, the winners of Garbage:
(on second thought, I'm just gonna upload the first prize winners of each category and that's that hahaha)
Oil:
Drought:
That's right, I didn't win. But I was very happy that I was able to do the dress all on my own, with no one's help
