  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What I did when left without my cutter

So, I left my Palio at work before the long weekend. Unfortunately, it's long become my single tool for snipping the heads off my cigars. Until I came up with this gem of an idea, that is. :rolling:

Now, before people start telling me I belong in the loony bin :hysterica, I should probably explain a bit. I am a little loony, but it's about how sharp I keep my kitchen knives. That big 'ole chef knife went through those cigars easier and cleaner than my Palio. I was actually quite suprised.

Oh yea, and for anyone wondering, from left to right - Tatuaje Petite Cazadore Reserva, 1998 Bolivar CE, 2009 Illusione F9.

When I was in Vegas I had a cigar while at the in-laws one night and I hadn't brought my cutter or anything (airport security and what not :dunno:) so I bit off the cap. Unfortunately it was a perfecto and it didn't go quite according to plan, but still not bad. My solution to forgetting my cutter is to always be in the company of someone with a cutter .

You can carry on cutters, Dan. I do it all the time! I keep my Palio in the business card slot of my laptop bag.

You're not crazy. In a pinch, I've used my good pocket knife. A sharp blade is a sharp blade.
Used to have to do this all the time on fishing and hunting trips. After I got sick of not remembering a cutter in the pants I was wearing or leaving it back at the cabin I went and bought a 10 pack of cheapies. Now I have one stuffed in every tackle box, blind bag, glove box and shooting bag that I own for the times I forget my palio.

I assume that well kept japanese steel is sharper than most any cutter. May not be as functional, but an excellent alternative, especially in a pinch. :)

Put the foot in your mouth and light the cap... after removing the band of course. :cbig: It's actually a bad idea. I tried it once and the smoke became an unraveled mess :) Better to just chomp off the end or keep a folding razor blade handy.
